In 2025, Michelle was named as the American Lung Association Volunteer of the Year for her fundraising and awareness efforts. Congratulations Michelle!

Our Story begins in 2009....

Our founder, Michelle McMahon was diagnosed with bronchoalveolar carcinoma (BAC), despite never having smoked. Rather than letting the diagnosis wear her down, she fought back, beat the cancer, and then started the Take a Breath for Life Foundation, which seeks to raise money to support lung cancer research, awareness, and support for current patients. Every year, we put on an event that serves as our big fundraiser every year. We hope this year you can join us!

Michelle wrote a blog post for Lung Cancer Alliance talking about her journey. Check it out here: https://lungcanceralliance.org/blog/doing-my-part/

Michelle was also featured on the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer’s “Survivor Spotlight”. Check it out here!
